A sketch in Progress-1

Here I have completed the basic outline work, and started shading from the upper left corner. When drawing portraits, I go from one end to the other, from top to bottom shading the parts as close to finished as possible. This is to avoid any smudging by the hand.

This is the first layer of shading on the child's face.I use circuler strokes instead of usual anguler or cross hatch. It gives a smoother effect. After shading I use a fine cloth wrapped around my finger to smooth out the tones. Then , another round of shading if a darken tone is required.
Thats all for today...Have a nice day!

  1. This is really wonderful, Arti. I love your idea of showing a work in progress. I so admire people who have this gift of sketching and drawing. I hope to follow the progress.
